Do I need both an NRR and an SNR figure for one SKU?

Only the SKUs that already carry both a documented ANSI and EN 352 test would let you claim both. EC-3001A and EC-3003 are EN-tested only (SNR); EC-3001 and EC-3002 are ANSI-tested only (NRR). We haven't seen dual-certified documentation for any model in this range — if a buyer needs both formats on one SKU, that's a sourcing question to raise with us before quoting, not something to assume is available.

Can a brand list an uncertified model as 'hearing protection' anyway?

That's a labeling/claims decision the brand has to own, not something we can advise on generically — but factually, EC-3005 through EC-3009 don't currently have a published dB rating on the source catalog, so any protection-level claim on those specific SKUs wouldn't be backed by test documentation we've seen.

What actually makes these different from standard earmuffs or foam plugs for the same event?

The acoustic filter is designed to reduce volume more evenly across frequencies than a solid foam plug, so speech and music stay intelligible at lower volume — the trade-off is these are reusable inserts, not disposable, so they suit a repeat-use buyer (musicians, venue staff, frequent concertgoers) more than a single-event giveaway.
